Biotechnology

The Biotechnology Graduate Program (Programa de Pós-Graduação em Biotecnologia - BIOTEC) aims to train qualified professionals to be critical and assertive, to promote the integration of different areas of research, to promote the interaction of professors and students with the private sector, in order to establish partnerships intending scientific and economic development, to establish scientific partnership with other institutions, and to stimulate the development of technological spin offs and startups.

The program’s research areas are: 1) Biotechnology Applied to Human and Animal Health, 2) Genomics and Proteomics, and 3) Industrial Biotechnology, with the respective lines of research: 1) Biotechnology Applied to the production of Vectors, Vaccines and Diagnostics; 2) Omic Sciences to the Study of Biomarkers Diversity, Functionality, and Characterization; and 3) Selection, Improvement, and Production of Biotechnological Bioactives.The program offers both Master and Doctorate degrees.
