Three foreign students from the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP) have been selected for a merit scholarship from the Program for Partner Undergraduate Students (PEC-G).
It offers financial aid for PEC-G students with outstanding academic performance. The student must be involved in academic teaching, research and extension activities, mainly related to the Brazilian cultural and social context.
The selection process offered 60 vacancies, which involved several universities in Brazil. The UFOP students Arielle Claudia Ngono, from Cameroon, Gbokoya Sandrine, from the Ivory Coast, and Maria Estefany Ramos, from Honduras, were selected .
For Gbokoya, the scholarship is a great stimulus to keep herself dedicating to the studies. "My experience in UFOP has been very enriching, both academically and personally. The University has provided me with a welcoming atmosphere where I have been able to grow and learn a lot," she says.
The role of UFOP International Relations Office (DRI) was fundamental in the process, according to Maria Estefany, who says that the sector "always helped and guided me at every step. I'm very grateful to each person who contributed to my success, making this journey even more special."
Arielle stands out even more, as this is the second time she has been among the students awarded with the scholarship. "Even though the scholarship amount has increased, I was more anxious because the number of vacancies has considerably decreased across the country" she reflects.
