UFOP is certified by Inep as a Celpe-Bras test center.

The Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto (UFOP) has reached an important milestone in its internationalization plan: the University is now certified by Inep (the National Institute of Educational Studies and Investigations) as a test center for The Certificate of Proficiency in Portuguese for Foreigners (Celpe-Bras).

Celpe-Bras is an exam aimed at foreigners seeking certification of proficiency in Portuguese as a foreign language. With Inep’s concession, UFOP is qualified to manage the exam, which will strengthen its role as a benchmark institution in the teaching of Portuguese language to foreign students.

The Director of International Relations, Anderson Gamarano, highlighted the importance of this achievement for the University. According to him, being granted as a Celpe-Bras test center was part of a strategic internationalization plan and it is aligned with the institution's language policies. "Apart from our own public, we will also be able to receive candidates from different Brazilian regions who are interested in the exam. By coming to UFOP to take the exam, this person will get to know our university and become a potential student," he emphasizes.

Anelise Fonseca Dutra, professor from UFOP’s Department of Languages, was nominated as coordinator of the test center. She will be responsible for training the team that will conduct the exam. She will also be in charge of managing applications, receiving the material supplied by Inep, coordinating the entire application process and, finally, sending the concluded exams back to Inep.

Celpe-Bras can be offered twice a year, and it is accepted by national and international companies and higher education institutions. The exam is also required in the process of validating degrees of foreign professionals who intend to work in Brazil.
