UFOP Professor performs activities in the Erasmus+ Programme domain in Poland

Prof. Guilherme Jorge Brigolini Silva, from the Department of Civil Engineering (Departamento de Engenharia Civil - DECIV) and the Civil Engineering Graduate Program (Programa de Pós-Graduação em Engenharia Civil - PROPEC) in the Federal University of Ouro Preto performed activities at the Rzeszów University of Technology (RUT), in Poland, through the Erasmus+ Programme. The visit was planned for 2020, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, taking place
from June 20 to 24, 2022. The European Program supports initiatives concerning education, professional/ technical training, youth issues, and sports and it aims to strengthen academic relations among universities, promote the exchange among students, faculty members, and technical staff, and encourage the international academic experience enhancing teaching, research, and extension actions.

The goal of the mobility was to develop and strengthen research networks in the construction industry which had already been started in 2019 during Prof. Guilherme Brigolini first visit to the Polish institution through the Erasmus+ Programme. During his staying in Rzeszów, there were meetings involving the RUT Department of International Cooperation, the Erasmus+ Programme coordination, and the faculty members from the institution in order to evaluate collaborative activities, such as the joint research projects in progress, and to plan new activities, like new joint research projects and students' and faculty members' mobility between RUT and UFOP.

Prof. Guilherme Brigolini also had the opportunity to teach a class to the RUT Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering students about "Sustainable cement applied to the Construction Industry", one of his areas of research in UFOP. At the Faculty, Brigolini visited the Construction Materials and the Concrete Testing and Certification Labs, and in the Rzeszów surroundings, he visited the Łańcut Museum Castle.

The partnership between UFOP and RUT
