UFOP signs cooperation agreement with Lakehead University


In August 2021, UFOP signed the first cooperation agreement with a Canadian institution, Lakehead University. This agreement represents the fulfillment of a long-standing desire of the academic community to strengthen and officialize relations with this important country, having as its main objective to encourage and facilitate research collaboration and international education and mobility opportunities for students and teachers, seeking to promote the internationalization process of both institutions.

On November 5, representatives from both institutions met virtually to discuss concrete possibilities for cooperation, focusing on research and graduate studies. The universities presented their respective main research areas and discussed opportunities for joint research and students and professors exchange from August 2022 onwards with the possibility of funding through Canadian government programs.

The ceremony was attended by the following UFOP's representatives: Dean of Research, Graduate Studies and Innovation Office, Prof. Renata Guerra de Sá Cota; the Head of the International Affairs Office, Jaqueline Pinheiro Schultz; the International Affairs Office member responsible for Agreements and Academic Mobilities, Anderson Gamarano.

Representing the Canadian institution, the ceremony was attended by the Vice President Research and innovation, Dr. Andrew P. Dean; the Vice President, Assoc. Research and Graduate Studies, Dr. Batia Stolar; and the Manager International Relations for Latin America, Mr. Pierre Sved.
