UFOP welcomes representatives of the University of Lille (France)

 

On Thursday, June 23, the Institute of Applied Social Sciences (Instituto de Ciências Sociais Aplicadas - ICSA) at UFOP received a delegation from the University of Lille (France) with the Vice-President for International and European Networks Kathleen O'Connor, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Social Sciences and Geography and Planning, François-Olivier Seys, and the Head of the International Office at the Faculty aforementioned, Thomas Heckly.

The visit aimed to identify possibilities of cooperation with UFOP in the areas of Social Sciences, Communication, Economics, Management and Urbanism. The meeting was held in the ICSA Meeting Room, in Mariana, and was attended by the Institute Director, Prof. José Benedito Donadon Leal, the Vice-Director, Prof. Harrison Bachion Ceribeli, and the Institute Secretary, Júlia de Melo Arantes, besides ICSA representative in the Permanent Internationalization Committee (Comissão Permanente de Internacionalização - CPInter), Prof. Maria Lucília Borges, from the Department of Journalism (Departamento de Jornalismo - DEJOR).

In addition to those participants, other UFOP members were present too, as the Head of DEJOR and representative of ICSA courses and departments, Prof. Evandro José Medeiros Laia, the Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Communication (PPGCOM), Prof. Denise Figueiredo Barros do Prado, the Department of Social Sciences (DECSO) representative, Prof. Paulo Monteiro Nunes, the Department of Economics (DEECO) representative, Prof. Carlos Eduardo da Gama Torres, the Coordinator of the Administration Program, Prof. Fábio Viana de Moura, the Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Applied Economics (PPGEA), Prof. Victor Maia Sena Salgado, and a student of that Program, Thamires Brum da Costa.

Representing the areas more directly related to the subject of Urbanism in UFOP, the meeting was attended by Prof. Karine Gonçalves Carneiro, Head of the Department of Architecture and Urbanism (DEARQ), Prof. Sulamita Fonseca Lino, also from DEARQ, and Prof. Christiano Ottoni Carvalho, representative of the Department of Urban Engineering (DEURB).

During the meeting, the University of Lille representatives presented the Faculty of Economic, Social, and Territorial Sciences, and the UFOP representatives briefly presented the programs and main projects developed in the university. The expectation is that specific online meetings in related areas will be scheduled at a later date to discuss possible partnership projects.

UFOP has had a cooperation agreement with University of Lille since 2009, and in this term more than 40 students have participated in mobility programs between the two universities.
