UFOP athletics coach stands out in world championship

The UFOP athletics team coach Marinalva Maria de Brito participated in the 10th World Indoor Master Athletics Championships held between March 23 and 30 in Florida, USA. She has been working in UFOP for ten years and competed in the shot put, discus throw, and javelin throw events.

The World Indoor Master Athletics Championships brought together more than 3,700 athletes from 97 countries, who competed in 24 sports. During the competition, 38 new world records and 120 new championship records were set. Marinalva broke the Brazilian indoor record in the shot put and set new records in the javelin throw and discus throw.

Marinalva says that she was very happy with the results, since in Brazil there is no appreciation for master athletics. According to her, the moment "was fantastic, because I felt and realized that I could go further", adding, however, that it is necessary to improve to keep "good results". She also said that "it was very worthwhile to have gone, felt the atmosphere, seen what reality is like in another country", stressing that "it was wonderful to be there competing with the best in the world and bring this good result to Brazil".
